The heart of Wagner Dental Care

Dr. Robert “Bobby” Wagner has been practicing in his native Rose City for nearly 20 years. For six years in a row, he’s been honored by his peers as a “Best Dentist” (Portland Monthly magazine).

He is the heart of Wagner Dental Care, inspiring a team that shares his passion for providing exactly the kind of dental care Dr. Wagner enjoyed as a child.

“My lifelong dentist and godfather, Dr. Robertson, was a happy person, full of personality and joy, comfortable to be around and genuinely interested in his patients’ happiness. He gave me my dream of a state-of-the-art practice that puts the patient first — no corporate, franchise feel. To this day, Dr. Robertson is my mentor and inspiration.”

Dr. Wagner always had an aptitude for science and how things work. “I was really into watches as a kid, taking them apart and putting them back together. I’m fascinated by the mechanical precision in dentistry, for instance how just one-tenth of a millimeter is enough for a restoration to be good or bad.”

After graduating from the University of Oregon and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, the Northwest way of life beckoned him back. He was delighted to have the opportunity to buy the practice of his mentor, Dr. Robertson.

In 2016, Dr. Wagner moved the practice to our current Burnside location in the vibrant Kerns neighborhood. Among his Kerns community favorites his daily visit to Khora Coffeehouse for an amazing smoothie and hopping on a city scooter or orange bike to Nostrana for “any of their fish dishes or the Dungeness crab pizza.”

Dr. Wagner and his wife love spending family time with their sweet toddler girl and  elementary-school-age twins – enjoying the outdoors, hiking, biking, playing tennis, skiing and golfing. They are also proud supporters of CASA for Children, volunteer court advocates for children in crisis.
